At Hannafore Road in Looe, Cornwall, weathering of the Devonian bedrock beneath a masonry wall had caused slope instability, creating a risk of structural collapse. Located in a popular tourist area, the site required a robust and long-lasting solution to ensure the safety of the adjacent road and infrastructure.
Devonian sedimentary rocks (slates, shales and thin limestone)
To address the instability, Cormac carried out detailed slope modeling using site investigation (SI) data in combination with our RUVOLUM design software. Based on the analysis, TECCO® G45/2 Stainless mesh was selected to provide high-performance stabilization suited to the coastal and corrosive environment. To further support the system, TECMAT was applied for erosion control and slope surface protection.
The later project images highlight the natural vegetation regrowth after just one growing season, demonstrating the solution’s ability to support ecological recovery alongside structural stability.
