Situation

The channel that transports copper concentrate was exposed to possible rockfalls from a farellon. The breakage of this infrastructure would have great economic and environmental consequences. To mitigate this problem, a project that includes a rock fall barrier was developed. 

Description

In order to protect this critical infrastructure, a dynamic barrier with a capacity of  3,000 kJ of energy absorption, 7 meters high and 60 meters long was installed.
