The aging hexagonal mesh, damaged by fire, left the area vulnerable to rockfall and erosion, posing a danger to road users.
To address the significant risk posed by the steep slopes along the Rhigos Road, Hydrock and Griffiths implemented a tailored solution.
To stabilise the slope and mitigate the risk of rockfall, a GBE-500A barrier was installed close to the road, effectively reducing the area requiring extensive stabilisation. This strategic placement minimised the need for additional mesh and drilling, streamlining the installation process.
The slope was also reinforced withTECCO® G65/3 and SPIDER® mesh systems, providing robust protection against erosion and rock displacement. The barrier’s proximity to the road ensures easy maintenance and long-term reliability, while the efficient installation allowed the project to be completed ahead of schedule.
